Indexer is working!
Yippy! Only one file! Fast as before. Cannot say if it is faster or not.
The codes for the indexer are already up on Google code. The url is http://code.google.com/p/wiki2touch/. Should be compile with MacOS, Windows or Linux. As soon as everything is ready I will upload compiled versions.
So expect a new version this weekend. Some more changes:
- Uwe will make an installer package. Great! Thanks a lot!
- I’ve cleaned up the “Media/Wikipedia” folder. Only the folders for the languages are left. I’ve moved the rest to the “Wiki2Touch.app” folder. You still can use the Wikipedia-Folder as the root for a webserver. Also true for Images.
- Out of the box there is a mini wikipedia database which holds help and better error messages. So after you’ve installed the version there is at least this database. So you get something else than “Article not found”. You get the reason why and how to fix it.
- Default port is now 8080 and can be changed.
- Default behavior of the server itself is to run a daemon. Just in case you need the command line.

I haven’t tried the new version yet. I have limited experience in compiling, so I am waiting for the compiled version. I’m using a version uploaded by a friend. However, I have notice a bug. Certain elements don’t work on the wikipedia. The Periodic Table for instance. It just says in red letters: Template::periodic table (standard) where the periodic table is supposed to go. How can I fix this? Does the new indexer fix this issue?
Thanks!!

Onesilentlight-
thanks for reporting the bug. You already did it in the other comments section. Sorry for the late response. You cannot fix it by yourself. If a template is not found it is displayed in red. I assume its not found because of the space. Sometimes this is change to %20, sometimes not.
Can you please give me some more information:
- Which arctile do you want to display?
- Which language are you using?
Waiting for the new indexer is fine. Its really easy to use it now.

Thanks for the reply Tom. The article that I’m trying to access is “periodic table” in the English version. The part that does not display is the periodic table itself. Thanks for any help you can give. This would be an important article to get working.

does it work under 1.1.3 now?

RAV it works in 1.1.3 but you have to install some updates from installer. The specific updates are listed in the comments on another article on this site.

I’ve just checked it: The template is not found, maybe because of the spaces, lower/uppercase problems or the brackets. But at least using the new indexer data the article itself (periodic table (standard)) is found. What also can gbe: Someone used an article as a template.
So enter “periodic table (standard)” as the search phrase at you get the article at least.
I will check it.
